How is this program benefiting the citizens of the City and County of Denver?By allowing non-violent offenders/defendants to serve their time on electronic monitoring instead of in the jail, we are saving the City money, as well as freeing up bed space in the jail for more serious offenders. We allow the offender/defendant to serve their time and maintain their employment, attend treatment and family responsibilities.
Who pays for the Electronic Monitoring Program? The defendant/offender generally pay for their monitoring sentences; we are self-supporting and are not a part of the City and County of Denver's general fund.
How big is the Electronic Monitoring Program? We average about 600 offenders/defendants on the program daily.
What types of technologies do you use?We utilize several different technologies: Radio frequency and cell phone monitors are used as a curfew tool, GPS tracking which allows us to know in almost real time the whereabouts of an offender/defendant, and continuous alcohol monitoring.
